Who stands behind GATE's legal documents?

Who runs GATE and who is the data controller?
GATE is run by Gate Intelligence AB, a Swedish limited company with org.nr 559592-1395 at Ankargränd 2, 111 29 Stockholm. Gate Intelligence AB is the data controller for your account, billing and usage data and for what GATE does for its own purposes. For the chats, files, memory and connected accounts an organization puts into GATE, that organization is the controller and GATE processes them under the GATE Data Processing Agreement. Where does GATE store customer data?
GATE runs on Hetzner servers in Nuremberg, Germany, with backups in Falkenstein, Germany, and a few support servers for video meetings, DNS and restore tests in Helsinki, Finland, all inside the EU. The AI models and other services GATE calls run mostly outside the EU, and in the default setup those transfers rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Section 4 of the GATE Privacy Policy lists every provider.
Does GATE train AI models on my data?
No. GATE does not use your content to train machine learning models. A provider that GATE classifies as training on the data it receives is used only after "Allow providers that may train on your data" is turned on for your organization, and that switch is off by default. The GATE Data Processing Agreement names each such provider, and the two whose terms allow training by default where the switch does not yet apply.
Does GATE have a Data Processing Agreement (DPA)?
Yes. GATE publishes its Data Processing Agreement under GDPR Article 28 for business customers at gate.software/legal/dpa. The current version, v1.3, was last updated on 22 October 2026 and covers the subprocessors, international transfers and security measures as they are today, with open items marked. Which subprocessors does GATE use?
The GATE Subprocessors page lists every company that processes data for GATE, what it does, where it sits and when your data reaches it, from Hetzner for hosting to Stripe for payments and Postmark for email. The GATE Data Processing Agreement adds each one's transfer mechanism and whether it may train on data. Questions about a specific subprocessor go to legal@gate.software.
How do I delete my GATE account or get a copy of my data?
Delete your GATE account yourself under Settings > Account, or email legal@gate.software. It removes your account, sign-ins and seats at once, revokes the accounts you connected at their providers, and is confirmed by email. For a portable copy of your data, or to erase messages you left in an organization's chats, email legal@gate.software; GATE responds within 30 days. Billing records stay for the 7 years Swedish bookkeeping law requires.
What cookies does GATE set?
The GATE app sets only strictly necessary and functional cookies, such as dash_session, which keeps you signed in for up to 30 days after you last use GATE, and no analytics, ad or tracking cookies. The gate.software website measures visits with Lens, GATE's own analytics, which sets no cookie; Cloudflare may set its __cf_bm bot-management cookie for security. The GATE Cookie Policy lists every cookie by name, purpose and lifetime.
What happens if GATE has a data breach?
If a personal-data breach meets the GDPR threshold, GATE notifies the Swedish data protection authority, IMY, within 72 hours and tells affected customers without undue delay. Under the GATE Data Processing Agreement, a business customer is told within 48 hours of GATE becoming aware of a breach that affects its data, with what is known at that point and more as it is learned.
