GATE Cookie Policy
v1.0Last updated: 2026-06-01
We use a small number of cookies. This page lists every one of them. We do not use any we are not telling you about.
What is a cookie
A cookie is a small text file your browser stores on your device when you visit a site. The site can read it back on later visits. Cookies are how a site remembers you are logged in, what theme you prefer, and similar small bits of state.
What we set
| Name | Purpose | Type | Lifetime | Needs consent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
gate_session | Keeps you logged in to gate1.dev. Without it you have to sign in on every page. | Strictly necessary | Session, up to 30 days if “remember me” is on | No |
gate_csrf | CSRF token. Stops other sites from submitting forms on your behalf. | Strictly necessary | Session | No |
gate_theme | Remembers whether you picked dark or light mode. | Functional | 1 year | No |
gate_locale | Remembers your language preference. | Functional | 1 year | No |
That is it. We do not currently run analytics cookies, ad cookies, or third-party tracking pixels.
If we add analytics later
When we add product analytics (probably PostHog or Plausible, EU-hosted), the analytics cookies will appear here with their name, purpose, and lifetime, and we will show a consent banner before we set them. You can decline and the rest of the product still works.
Third-party cookies on the marketing site
The marketing site at gate.software is served through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may set a __cf_bm bot management cookie to distinguish humans from automated traffic. This is a strictly necessary cookie for security. It lasts 30 minutes from the last request.
How to control cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the strictly necessary ones (gate_session, gate_csrf) the product will not work. Functional cookies are safe to block, you will just lose your theme and language preference between sessions.
Consent banner
When analytics or marketing cookies are added, the consent banner config lives at gate.software/legal/cookies/banner. The banner gives you per-category toggles. Your choice is stored in a first-party cookie and respected across the site.
Changes
We update this page whenever we add or remove a cookie. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change.
