What does GATE Companion for Mac do?

GATE Companion for Mac is a free app that connects your Mac to your own GATE agent. You decide what it reaches: one window you share, one folder you share, or exact commands you allow. Every step on your screen waits for your OK unless you say otherwise, and you can take it all back in one click.

Share a window

Your agent works in the app you share

Pick one window and start sharing. Your agent can read it, click, type and scroll in it, and asks you before each step unless you allow it to go on its own for that share.

Share a folder

It reads one folder, never the disk

Pick one folder and your agent can list, search and, if you switch it on, read the files in it. Nothing in it can be changed, moved or deleted that way.

Allow commands

It runs what you allowed, as you

Allow exact commands in the folders you name, and your agent can run them for you. Anything you did not allow is refused.

Set up

How do I set up GATE Companion for Mac?

Three steps, then you ask in plain words.

01

Download it from GATE

Open GATE, go to Settings › Connector and download GATE Companion for Mac.

02

Connect with your GATE ID

Open Companion and press Connect. Sign in with your GATE ID in the browser page it opens. That sign-in is the approval: there is no code to copy.

03

Choose your agent and what it gets

In Settings › Connector, pick the agent and tick what it may use on this Mac. Then share a window or a folder from Companion when you need it.

What can my agent reach, and where does it stop?

You are letting an agent onto your own computer. Here is exactly how far that goes.

What your agent can reach

Only what you shared or allowed, for as long as you allow it.

One window you share, with your OK on each step
One folder you share, read only
Exact commands you allowed, in folders you named
Tools installed on your Mac that you ticked

Built-in limits

Guardrails that hold on every share.

Your agent cannot connect your Mac: only you can, at the keyboard
A window share ends after 30 minutes, when you stop, or when the Mac sleeps
One agent per delegation, with only the rights you gave it
What it reads on screen reaches your agent marked untrusted
Take it back in Settings › Connector and a live share ends at once
FAQ

Straight answers.

What is GATE Companion for Mac?

GATE Companion for Mac is a free app from GATE Intelligence that connects your Mac to your own GATE agent through the GATE Connector. You share one window, one folder or a set of exact commands, and your agent can then work there for you while you watch and approve each step.

How do I install GATE Companion for Mac?

Open GATE, go to Settings › Connector and download GATE Companion for Mac. Open it, press Connect and sign in with your GATE ID in the browser page it opens. Then choose in Settings › Connector which agent may use your Mac and what it may reach.

Can my agent see my whole screen or my whole disk?

No. Your agent reaches only the one window or the one folder you shared, and only while that share is on. A window share ends after 30 minutes, when you press stop or when your Mac sleeps, and a folder share is read only.

Do I have to approve everything my agent does?

By default, yes: Companion asks you before each step in a shared window. You can let your agent go on its own for one share, and only you can switch that on, from your Mac. Commands run only if they are on the list you allowed.

Is GATE Companion for Mac free?

Yes. GATE Companion for Mac costs nothing to download. Connecting it needs a GATE account, because it links your Mac to your own GATE agent. GATE is invite only right now while GATE Intelligence onboards a small number of businesses.
